Belarus to increase machinery export to Uzbekistan
2011-11-02    The export of Belarusian machines to Uzbekistan is discussed during a visit of the Belarusian Industry Ministry delegation to Tashkent on 1-5 November, BelTA learnt from Spokesman for the Industry Ministry Sergei Shalai. 

The delegation is led by Belarus’ Industry Minister Dmitry Katerinich. The delegation is set to meet with Uzbekistan’s top officials and potential customers. The delegation includes heads of BelAZ, MAZ and MTZ. This visit has been arranged with the help of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Uzbekistan. 

Uzbekistan is familiar with Belarusian machinery, first of all, BelAZ quarry machines, MTZ tractors, Gomselmash combined harvesters. The parties will discuss the supplies of BelAZ machines for mining companies of Uzbekistan. The sides will consider the possibility of increasing the supply of “Belarus” tractors and attached agricultural equipment produced by the enterprises affiliated with the Belagromash state production corporation. The Belarusian side also proposes to discuss the ways to promote MAZ trucks and Amkodor loaders to the market of Uzbekistan.

In January-July 2011, the trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan amounted to $63.4 million. Exports totaled $32.9 million, imports $30.5 million. Belarus had a surplus of $2.4 million. High-tech products account for more than 60% of Belarusian exports to Uzbekistan. Goods that are needed to reproduce the technological cycle at enterprises, implement investment projects enjoy the greatest demand on the Uzbek market.

Belarus-Uzbekistan agreement on economic cooperation for 2008-2017, and the program of economic cooperation for 2008-2017 are currently in force.
